During the opening session of the CAS’ Ratemaking, Product, and Predictive Modeling (RPM) Seminar in Chicago last week, CAS President Brian Brown announced a collaboration between The CAS Institute and SAS. Brown stated, “Earning the CSPA credential requires completing a final project that challenges candidates to use what they have learned through the exams to address a real-world scenario. I am pleased to announce that candidates will be able to use SAS software in fulfilling this final CSPA requirement, as SAS is generously contributing its software to The CAS Institute. We are pleased to collaborate with an organization like SAS, which can provide tools to allow CSPA candidates to truly mirror on-the-job scenarios and certify mastery of the practical skills that employers come to expect from our rigorous credentials.”
As an indication of SAS’ support of iCAS and the CSPA, SAS donated two annual e-Learning license vouchers to its SAS Academy for Data Science. To meet the growing demand for data analysis experts, SAS launched the SAS Academy for Data Science, where students can master big data management, advanced analytics, machine learning, data visualization and text analytics, along with essential communication techniques. The winners were Hernan Medina, Director of ISO Verisk and Adam Scarth, Director, Commercial Lines Pricing and Analytics, Northbridge Financial Corporation. They will each receive one year of access to an Academy program, a $2,250 value.
