April 8, 2020
The CAS Institute, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, last month postponed this exam sitting for one month – from May 7 to June 4. Since that time, a majority of governors have issued or extended their “Stay at Home” orders. As a result, we are going to cancel the spring sitting of this exam altogether and only hold one sitting in 2020, on Thursday, October 29. We will be holding this sitting regardless of whether the Stay at Home orders are still in effect; we are lining up remote proctoring options “just in case” in person proctoring and/or test center administration are not yet available.
iCAS Director Amy Brener strongly encourages candidates who have already passed iCAS Exam 2 – Data Concepts and Visualization – to take Exam 3 this October. The exam committee will be modifying both Exam 2 and Exam 3 for Spring 2021 sittings. Some material currently on Exam 3 will be moved to Exam 2, and new material may be added to Exam 3. Candidates will be responsible for the material being moved from Exam 3 to Exam 2 even if they are not directly tested on it. This material is critical not only for Exam 3, but for the Project as well. While the changes will be documented, candidates who take DS1 before the end of 2020 may end up having to study additional material if they take Exam 3 in 2021.
Registration for the October 29 sitting of Exam 3 is now open.
