October 25, 2017
Brian Brown, CAS President Elect, and Amy Brener, Director of The CAS Institute, joined iCAS subject matter experts Todd Lehmann and Chris Monsour to discuss The CAS Institute’s Certified Specialist in Predictive Analytics in a webinar hosted on September 28, 2017. Over 160 people from more than 8 countries, including South Africa, Israel, and the United Kingdom, participated in the webinar. This CSPA credential will be viewed as qualifying any recipient actuary or non-actuary to work in a modeling role. While the certification currently has a focus on Property & Casualty Insurance, many of the areas tested are applicable to other domains.
The webinar included detailed information regarding costs, testing locations, pass rates and waivers. The credential includes three exams and a Case Study Project, and can also be earned through an Experienced Practitioner Pathway. A transcript of the Q&A is available.
Continuing education requirements are being developed and will be published in the next several months. CSPAs will need to maintain their membership in The CAS Institute and fulfill these requirements by the end of the second calendar year following receipt of the designation in order to maintain the credential. Relevant CAS continuing education offerings will count towards the continuing education requirements for the CSPA and vice versa. Upcoming events are listed on the iCAS website, https://thecasinstitute.org/professional-education/predictive-analytics/.
Future opportunities to engage with the practice community will be announced soon. We are always looking for volunteers and suggestions to help develop our practice communities. If interested, please email abrener@thecasinstitute.org.
