The CAS Institute (iCAS), a subsidiary of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) offering specialty credentials for quantitative professionals, has opened registration for the second requirement for its Certified Specialist in Predictive Analytics (CSPA) credential.
“Data Concepts and Visualization” is administered by The Institutes and covers the foundational concepts and tools associated with preparing and managing data and datasets to be used in quantitative analyses, predictive modeling and data analytics with applications for P&C insurance.
“We are releasing this course in two parts,” iCAS Director Amy Brener explained. “The first part of the course, which will include an online module as well as an optional textbook, is now available. The rest of the course, which will include an additional online module, accompanying optional textbook, and additional study materials covering both online courses, is due out in mid-May.” Materials drawn from assigned readings in two additional texts will also be covered on the exam, which will be available beginning mid-July.
“Because we saw such demand for this course, we decided not to wait until the entire course was available to release it,” Brener added. “Rather, we are releasing it in two parts so that those interested can begin their study now and then continue when the rest of the materials are released.”
